Portage Glacier Tour & MV Ptarmigan Cruise (Portage)

In 1989, the MV Ptarmigan dayboat began operating tours to the face of Portage Glacier in Portage Lake. One of Alaska's most-visited attractions, the glacier is located approximately 50 miles south of Anchorage. The one-hour roundtrip tour is fully narrated by a representative of the U.S. Forest Service and includes approximately 20 minutes within 300 feet of Portage Glacier, allowing for superb views and photography.
