Kennecott Mine Viewed from the Glacier
It's a short hike out onto the lateral moraine where you can get this view of the mine. It's steep, rocky, and not advised unless you have experience walking on moraines and glaciers.

Looking Straight Up at the Mill
A great view is to walk right underneath the mine and look up. Then you really get the feeling for how it towers above you!

Above The Mine
It's about a 20-minute hike up to this vantage point above the mine. (That's how tall it is!) Go up the trail to "Silk Stocking Row." Take the footbridge across the creek, then turn right. A few hundred yards later, the trail comes out above the

Jumbo Mine Angle Station
If you want the most authentic feel of the history of this place, hike up the mountain to either Bonanza, Jumbo, Mother Lodge, or Erie Mines.

Main Street McCarthy
Forget Talkeetna, McCarthy is about the most authentic pioneer town you'll find in Alaska. Main Street is unpaved, only a few hundred yards long, and lined with classic buildings and memorabilia. A place where time seems to have stood still.

McCarthy Relics
You can't walk more than a few yards in McCarthy without running into evidence of a bygone era. It's like walking back in time. Unlike other towns that are restored or put together like a movie set, McCarthy is real--and at times, raw.
